COF Boston Immersion: Alternative Spring Break 2012 Student Application Form
Welcome!
This program will take place from the afternoon of Sunday March 4th through the evening of Friday March 9th. Following our theme of "Children in poverty", we will be working in partnership with Cradles to Crayons and other local community service sites. Traveling will be via MBTA services.
We will be helping community partners during the day and staying in the Yawkey Center at Emmanuel College during the night. This arrangement will allow everyone to wind down with group activities and end-of-the-day reflections. Reflections are designed to engage the students to really think about their contributions. They will touch upon subjects such as career paths, interests, faiths, and goals- and how these factors connect with community service. This will be a very enriching and rewarding experience where you can both give to the community and bond with your fellow COF students!
There will be a meeting we
highly recommend accepted students to attend. This meeting will serve as an introduction and orientation to the program and everyone will get a chance to meet one another before the ASB starts. The time and place of the meeting will be announced with acceptance e-mails (e-mails will also include more details about what to expect, what to bring, etc.).
There is a mandatory fee of $50 per student to cover food and living expenses. However, we are fundraising, and plan to hold an additional fundraiser after Spring Break. Depending on the amount raised, we will be able to return a certain portion of the $50 back to each student. (With the possibility of a full refund!) Please drop off your payment at the Scott-Ross Center (Simmons College, Main Campus Building, Rm W102) no later than
Friday March 2.
Please submit this Student Application form by
9:00pm on Tuesday February 28, 2012. We will inform you of your acceptance to the program by Wednesday February 29.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to send us an email. We look forward to meeting each and every one of you!
